As the fourth generation of photographers in
my family begins, I reflect on my own 30 years of experience
and what it has meant to me. I'd like to share a few of these
thoughts and thank all those wonderful people who have come
into my life through my photography business. |
To my wedding clients,
I have
watched with affection as the bride's mother fixes her daughter's
hair and then holds her in a long hug. I have been nervous as
the bride rounds the corner to go down the aisle with her father.
I've laughed at the best man's toasts, and I've had tears watching
the groom dance with his mother. I feel so lucky to capture
the children doing their cute things, and so fortunate to have
the grandparents forever on film. I have traveled with you to
great places, and I have photographed beautiful weddings at
your homes and clubs.
To the people I have worked with, I am in awe of your talent.
I have listened to your words up on the altar and have read
the prayers in the programs. Your wedding gowns and veils, tables,
tents, and floral decorations have made my pictures more beautiful.
(I have only sneezed at the lilies.) Your culinary presentations
and cakes have been as delicious as they are spectacular. I
have tapped my feet with the bands, putting down my camera more
than once. To fellow photographers and photo labs, event planners
and club managers, I am so grateful for your advice and referrals,
and have enjoyed working with you over the years.
My career in wedding photography has involved the most rewarding
and memorable experiences. It has created lasting friendships
with clients and the people I've worked with. I hope the albums
and framed pictures have given as much pleasure as I have had
in taking them.
Now, as I look forward, I am proud to have my son William handling
the digital side of my business, with creative slide shows and
audio-visual offerings. So much has transpired since my first
wedding at Stratton in 1975, and it keeps getting better.
Thank you for the last 30 years,
